PHP mysqli: ping() function
mysqli_ping() function / mysqli::ping
The mysqli_ping() function / mysqli::ping pings a server connection, or tries to reconnect if the connection has gone down.
Syntax:
Object oriented style
bool mysqli::ping ( void )
Procedural style
bool mysqli_ping ( mysqli $link )
Parameter:

| link | A link identifier returned by mysqli_connect() or mysqli_init() | Required for procedural style only and Optional for Object oriented style |
Usage: Procedural style
mysqli_ping(connection);
Parameter:

Return value:
Returns TRUE on success or FALSE on failure.
