Python: Get the current memory address and the length in elements of the buffer used to hold an array's contents

5. Get Array Buffer Information

Write a Python program to get the current memory address and the length in elements of the buffer used to hold an array’s contents. Also, find the size of the memory buffer in bytes.

Sample Solution:

Python Code :

from array import *
array_num = array('i', [1, 3, 5, 7, 9])
print("Original array: "+str(array_num))
print("Current memory address and the length in elements of the buffer: "+str(array_num.buffer_info()))
print("The size of the memory buffer in bytes: "+str(array_num.buffer_info()[1] * array_num.itemsize))

Sample Output:

Original array: array('i', [1, 3, 5, 7, 9])
Current memory address and the length in elements of the buffer: (139741883429512, 5)
The size of the memory buffer in bytes: 20

  • Write a Python program to calculate the memory buffer size in bytes by multiplying an array’s itemsize by its length.
  • Write a Python program to compare the buffer_info() of two arrays and print the difference in their starting addresses.
  • Write a Python program to implement a function that returns a tuple containing the memory address and byte size of an array.
